Description
Notes From John
BPM = 82 for the slow opening, then BPM = 187 in 6/8. The bass sits out the opening and comes in on the groove. Open-E eighths carry the grooves. A climbing line from low E returns three times. Later it holds long tied notes, then turns into a steady sixteenth-note E pedal. The outro walks down E, D, C, B at full volume.
For the player
Wait out the slow opening and come in when the band kicks into 6/8. From there it’s mostly open E, and how hard you lean on it. Hold the whole bars and let the strings carry the middle. Build the sixteenth pedal into the last climb. Ride each gear change. At BPM = 187 the job is the feel.
Bass Guitar Tablature for “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
