Description

Notes From John

BPM = 137, in tab with rhythm stems, chord names and down/up stroke marks, with “Capo 2” printed. The chord names are shapes relative to the capo. After the fermata bar for “All aboard!…” and eight bars’ rest, Guitar In is down-up eighth pairs on Em, G, D and C with rests between them, closing on C and D quarters. The Verses and the first Re-Intro strum the G shape in eighths and sixteenths, with accent marks on some strums and ties across the beat, and the later Re-Intro brings back the Guitar In pairs. The Choruses run Em, C, G and D in tied eighths, with muted X strums leading into some chord changes. The Bridge at 2:30 and the Outro go back to Em, G, D and C with X strums and held chords. The Solo cycles Em, C and A with a turn through G and G/F#, and ends on D. The last chord is Em under a fermata. The section boxes carry the record’s timestamps.

For the player

Randy Rhoads plays guitar on the 1980 studio recording, and this page is John’s strum arrangement of those changes. Put the capo on the 2nd fret before you start. Watch the down-up marks: the Verses carry accents on some strums, and the Choruses tie strums across the beat. At BPM = 137 the job is the feel.
