BPM = 77, in 4/4, from a one-beat pickup. The first downbeat is a single hi-hat note with a crossed-circle mark over the kick, then rests, written as a bar and a repeat under “Look out for…”. The Verses and Pre-Choruses strip the kit to kick on one and three and snare on two and four, written as a bar and repeats counted to four. The Choruses lay hi-hat eighths over that same kick and snare, and their second half is marked “bounce stick”, with buzz strokes written mostly on the hat offbeats. The Bridge at 1:46, under JID’s “Uh, look, okay…”, is marked “open-handed”, with “rim” printed over a cymbal note and the hat in sixteenth pairs; it then drops to four bars of kick alone in dotted-eighth-and-sixteenth figures and a bar rest. Read “bounce stick” as written on the hat offbeats, and switch to “open-handed” for the Bridge before “regular drumming” returns for the last Chorus. At BPM = 77 the job is the feel.
