Description
Notes From John
The lead side of John’s Rhythm/Lead chart, in tab, 4/4 with swing eighths marked, at BPM = 218. The intro is a clean Em figure that ends on a full bend into E. In the verses the guitar plays single-note let-ring lines and short walk-ups under the vocal, with two-note slides around the 7th to 9th frets in the later verses and a palm-muted spot at the end of Verse 1. The outro moves up to F♯ and C♯7 and ends on a short lick with a hammer-on into a held F♯.
For the player
The verse lines are sparse on purpose, so stay under the vocal and let the notes ring where the chart says let ring. Get the intro bend all the way up to pitch, and keep the swing even on the walk-ups. The outro chords move up to F♯ and C♯7, so have those shapes ready before 3:00. At BPM = 218 the job is the feel.
