Description
Notes From John
A clean guitar part in tab, 4/4 with swing eighths marked, at BPM = 194. Through the intro, verses and choruses it’s a single-note line in quarter and half notes, mostly between the 4th and 10th frets on the lower strings, following G♭, A♭7, D♭, B♭ and E♭m. The solo at 0:49 moves up to the 8th to 11th frets over A♭6, E♭ and A♭, with vibrato on held notes, then a spaced line over D♭, E♭7, A♭, F7 and B♭m that ends on a chord. The second solo at 1:49 climbs to the 13th fret with more vibrato, and the part ends on a tied D♭6.
For the player
Most of this part is simple, spaced-out notes, so keep them even and let the swing carry it. The 0:49 solo shifts to a new set of chords and a higher spot on the neck, so ride each gear change and have the position ready. Give the vibrato marks their full length on the held notes. At BPM = 194 the job is the feel.
