For the player
Put the record on before bar 1. Stan Lynch is hitting hard, but the hat is doing two jobs: open and sloppy, then clamped shut. If your chart gives you one tight eighth-note hat the whole way, you’re learning a different song. Watch the last four bars. Most players dump a double-time fill there. He doesn’t. Kick and snare in twos. Play that exit like he meant it.
