Description
Notes From John
On the isolated drum track and live, the kick often comes from the lead singer as much as from a drummer’s foot, and a lot of what reads like hi-hat may be tambourine. This chart is a full-band transcription collapsed onto a kit so you can play the song — not a claim that one person did every hit on a standard set. Watch the 2/4 bars; they flip you in and out of 4/4. Dynamics matter — mp to mf, then the builds. Hats are marked loose and normal where that helps you feel the arrangement.
For the player
Don’t buy this as the end-all kit tab. Put the record on (and a live clip if you can). Marcus is stomping a lot of that kick; some of the “hat” is tambourine energy in the room. Use this chart as a guide to lock the form — especially those 2/4 turns and the quiet-to-loud builds — then listen and decide how much of it lives on your kit vs the band. Play the quiet so the choruses hit.
