Description
Notes From John
A strum part in tab, 4/4 at BPM = 112, with swing eighths marked from Verse 1 and “straight 8ths” on the last bar. The chart says “Capo 4 within song (no capo at start)”: the capo goes on just before Verse 2 at 1:04 and comes off (“No Capo”) before the 1:38 solo. Without the capo the shapes include G, C, Bm7, Am, Em, B7, E7, D7 and A♯º7. With capo 4 they include D, G, F♯, B7, Em, A7 and Bm7, plus a D/F♯ with optional low notes “if thumb can reach low string.” Down and up strokes are marked, and phrases close on short chords with rests.
For the player
The intro starts on the downbeat of bar 1 with no pickup, so hit it cold on the first G. Plan the capo moves: “Capo 4” is printed just before Verse 2, and “No Capo” just before the solo. Play the thumb notes on D/F♯ only if you can reach them. At BPM = 112 the job is the feel.
