Description
Notes From John
Tab only, 4/4 at BPM = 116, with down-strokes marked. The intro and the 0:18 half chorus are a two-string eighth-note pattern low on the neck over F, Dm7, Gm7 and C, with a moving top note. Verse 1 starts on held chord fragments with rests, then turns into a single-note line around the 6th to 11th frets. The 1:07 chorus goes back to the two-string pattern. Verse 2 rests for eight bars, then plays a high line around the 13th fret with a slide up to the 20th. From the 2:13 chorus on, the part is four-string barre chords in steady eighths: F at the 8th fret, Gm7 at the 10th and C5 at the 10th, through the bridge and the last chorus, ending on one F.
For the player
The part moves up the neck as the song goes, from two strings near the nut to full barre chords at the 8th fret and above. Ride the downbeat with the down-strokes the chart marks, and keep the eighths even through the long chord sections. Count the eight bars of rest at the top of Verse 2 so the high line lands on time. At BPM = 116 the job is the feel.
