Description
Notes From John
Tab only, 4/4 at BPM = 104. The part opens “clean, slow strum” on rolled B chords with up strokes marked, and the chart says “continue strums ahead of beat”. The verses hold rolled B, F♯ and E chords (B and F♯ as barre shapes, E open), mostly one per bar with repeat bars between. The 0:51 and 1:51 choruses and the end of Verse 3 have short single-note fills marked “distortion with slide ring”, with slides and some vibrato. Verses 2 and 3 go back to clean and add accented 2nd-fret notes with triplets between the held chords. The last chorus at 2:56 is clean and mp, a two-string pattern up at the 19th fret, and it slows (rit.) into a held note under a fermata.
For the player
Most of the part is one rolled chord at a time, played slightly ahead of the beat as the chart says. Ride each gear change: clean for the verses, distortion and slide ring for the fills, then clean again, and drop to mp for the high ending. Count the repeat bars so the changes land on time. At BPM = 104 the job is the feel.
