Description
Notes From John
BPM = 136, in 4/4. The Intro starts on a 2-bar rest, then a “china” note and a triplet figure, then hat grooves with open-hat circles over kick sixteenths. The snare sixteenths before the Groove are marked “edge of snare” and then “normal snare”, and close on a triplet fill under the “Ooh, yeah!” cue. The Groove at 0:23 puts the snare on two and four under hat notes with open-hat circles and the kick on the quarters, with a bar of snare-and-tom eighths over the kick to close many phrases; the Verses and Choruses keep that groove. The Pre-Choruses and the Solo move to cymbal quarters over a syncopated kick. The Bridge and the Big Bridge at 3:14 put dotted kick sixteenth figures beneath the hat and cymbal notes, with bracketed snare notes in the Bridge, and the Interlude and Outro keep the dotted kick figures to the last bar. The section boxes carry the record’s timestamps.
For the player
Joey Jordison plays drums on the track. Play the edge of the snare until the “normal snare” mark, then move to the usual snare sound for the rest of that figure. At BPM = 136 the job is the feel.
