Description
Notes From John
A strum part in tab, 4/4 at BPM = 142, with swing eighths marked and “Capo 1” printed at the top. Shape names are relative to the capo. The intro strums G, Em, C and D7. The verses and tags move between G, G6, D7 and Am/D, mostly quarter-note down strokes with an eighth-note down-up pair, and down and up strokes are marked over most bars. The choruses at 0:34 and 1:28 go through C, Bm, Em, Em(maj7) and Em7, stop on one strum of A with rests, then D7 comes in. The solo section at 1:01 strums G and D7 with more down-up eighths. The last tag adds Em, C and Am7 and ends on G, strummed for two beats with a half rest after.
For the player
The strum is mostly down strokes on the beat with a down-up pair in the bar, so ride the downbeat and play the up strokes only where they’re printed. Leave the rest after the single A strum in the choruses. At BPM = 142 the job is the feel.
