Description

Notes From John

BPM = 207, in 4/4, with one 5/4 bar in Intro A. Intro A opens on a two-bar rest, then x notes below the staff with a “slowly accel” mark, then snare and tom figures with grace notes and sixteenth-note triplets, and hat-and-snare figures over kick eighths with bracketed snare notes. The tempo mark changes to quarter = 212 before Intro B. Intro B at 0:59 is marked “half note = quarter note” and “half time, shuffle on 16th notes”, with dotted snare figures, sixteenth-note triplet fills and grace notes. The Verses and Choruses switch between “straight” and “shuffle” marks, and the Solo does too, with hat figures over kick figures and sextuplet snare fills with crescendo hairpins. Re-Intro B ends on a bar marked “free time”, with mp, a crescendo hairpin to f and back to mp, cymbal tremolos, “straight” sixteenths and a fermata. Verse 3 is marked “a tempo, shuffle”, and after a “quarter note = half note” mark, Re-Intro A at 4:41 is marked “normal time”, with hat-and-snare figures over kick eighths and accented snare sixteenths. The Outro has snare and tom figures over triplet kick notes, accented sixteenths and repeats, and ends on a crash. The section boxes carry the record’s timestamps.
