Description
Notes From John
A quick waltz in A at BPM = 172. The verses hold one root per bar, and from the second chorus on, the line walks up from the open A. Every section closes on the same D, E, A turnaround. The outro slows to a held open A.
For the player
John Denver and the Muppets, 1979. In a fast waltz, beat one is everything, so land it, let the held roots ring through the verses, and let the walk-ups lean in later without rushing. Keep it light so the Muppet voices stay on top. Ride the downbeat. At BPM = 172 the job is the feel.
