Description
Notes From John
Tab only, 4/4 at BPM = 73, with “Capo 2” printed. The chord names are shapes relative to the capo. This chart stays on open chord shapes from start to finish: G, Am, Am7, D, Em7, C(add9) and C(sus2). Where the Lead chart has Cm, this part plays C(sus2). Some G bars add a note at the 1st fret of the B string inside the strum. The intro opens with accents, marked “continue accents on beats”, and ends with muted-string strums before Verse 1 at 0:14. The strum runs straight through the 1:06 solo, so there’s no break from the chords. Down and up strokes are marked on most bars, in eighths and sixteenths. Verse 3 at 1:33 and the 1:59 outro keep the same shapes. The outro holds a D through a 2/4 bar, then slows with rit. into rolled C(add9) and Am7 chords and a rolled G under a fermata.
For the player
This is the strum part from Taylor Swift’s 2007 Holiday Collection. Put the capo on the 2nd fret before you start. Serve the riff, don’t thicken it: play the strum as printed, without adding strokes, and keep it going through the solo section. Mute the strings for the end of the intro, and roll the final chords where the chart marks them. At BPM = 73 the job is the feel.
