Transcribing Notes From John Neil (Head Transcriber)

There is a cool dark bass-y tone to this production. It also features a guitar solo right at the beginning – something you don’t hear very often.

Melody

The dense double (triple?) tracked vocals have the range of B2 to C#4.

Keyboard

Having no keyboards, I made up a part loosely based on the rhythm guitar, and root notes. I called it “Wurlitzer electric piano,” as that would blend well with the recording. I usually say “electric piano,” but I felt more “Wurli” that day :).

Guitars

The Lead Guitar almost plays a solo through the entire song. During the verses the playing is more sporadic, and at the end solos it’s ‘doubled’ with a more bright toned guitar. I just had the main lead change to a more bright tone.

The Rhythm Guitar holds down the rhythm with its own dark tone, then at the end it does its own sporadic lines.

Strum/Ukulele

There is no acoustic strum in the recording, so a part was made up for Acoustic Strum Guitar.
