Chasing Light – Metallica – Song Breakdown

Another heavy Lars Ulrich drum part. As with a lot of Metallica songs, it frequently goes into half time (or into double time depending on how you look at it). It sounds almost like some crashes where overdubbed, as the hi-hat plays pretty consistently through this, but I ‘humanized’ it for 1 drummer. Also, in the solo section at bar 232, the drums turn the beat around with a bar of 6/4, though the rhythm guitar riff stays in 4/4 throughout (until they turn it around before bar 239). So it may sound kind of weird for a while, but I wanted to keep it to the drum feel, so I did the 6/4 bar. Also, I indicated 3 different crash cymbals – there are probably more, but I kept it to 3, as that’s what I predominantly heard. They are all “normal” crash cymbals, just different pitches and location in the stereo spectrum.
