Transcribing Notes From John Neil (Head Transcriber)
This song of doom was written about “the apocalypse that was going to be visited up on us,” according to one source. Although songwriter John Fogerty was also reported to say “I don’t think I was actually saying the world was coming to an end.” Either way, it was written after watching the 1941 film The Devil and Daniel Webster.
Aside from the Lead Guitar, this is a great beginner’s song to learn and play.
Melody
The vocal range is A3-G4, and features the signature Fogerty slow slapback delay.

Keyboard
There are no keyboards in this song, so I made up a part that follows the basic groove, calling for “electric piano” because that would blend in best. But it could be played with any keyboard sound really.

Guitars
I did the guitars as true to the recording as possible. The Lead Guitar sounds like 2 guitars blended together, but can be covered as written.

Strum
The Strum Guitar is based on what I can hear of an acoustic strum mixed in there, with the ukulele following the same rhythm”.

Bass
The bass is just holding the fort down with its mostly beat 1 & 3 quarter notes. It almost sounds like an upright bass.
