Broken Triads for guitar position 2!

This is a very technical exercise and gets your fingers moving through the scale in a different way. Practicing this expands your understanding of the fretboard and ability to visualize the locations of notes. It’s also great for some creative ideas whether improvising over a chord progression or composing a new idea.

An important thing to remember with an exercise like this is that you’ll always get a lot more out of it by applying it in ways that are fun and interesting to you. Playing through an exercise over and over until you’re falling asleep on your guitar is going to teach you far less than something that keeps you engaged. So, try to make it your own after you get comfortable with the idea. You could grab a backing track chord progression and try jamming on it using broken triads, for example. It’s challenging at first, but with a bit of practice it can start feeling like a cool new tool has been added to your collection of skills.
