Transcribing Notes From John Neil (Head Transcriber) – Breaking Down – Circles by Post Malone
A few general things: In every 4th measure, there is some sort of F chord, sometimes definitely major, sometimes, kind of minor, though the vocals sing an A natural over it. So there is a sort of dissonance there sometimes. But that’s the way it goes.
Also, in every 4th measure of the verses, it could very well be F(m) G, but the way everything is voiced, I sometimes held the F(m) chord through the bar. All a part of good orchestration – to leave part of it up to the listener.
Melody
In this song about relationships, the vocal range is C3 to G4.

Keyboard
A nicely orchestrated song with lots of synth sounds. Between the keyboard and lead guitar, I did what I could to hit them all. I set it up to be able to be played on 1 keyboard, or multiple keyboards.

Lead and Rhythm Guitars
The lead guitar covers parts that sound like guitar lines (the main hook in particular), and some keyboard lines too.

The rhythm guitar is one of the acoustic strum parts of the song.

Strum/Ukulele
The Strum Guitar is based on the 2nd acoustic strum part, except that the beginning 8 bars of the verses & the ending are filled in with strums to make it workable for a solo performance.

Bass
There are 2 bass parts in the choruses, one which continues the part from the verses, and a lower one. I had it play the lower one to give it a fuller sound for the chorus. It sounds like it’s played with a pick.
