My Own Summer (Shove It) – Deftones – Song Breakdown
Melody
A song about an “apocalyptic-type thing” where everyone on the streets would disappear and the sun would go away. That would be the singer’s “own summer.” Like other Deftones songs, the vocals go from a whisper to a scream. The vocal range (not counting the screaming) is C#3 to E4.

Keyboard
As there is no keyboard part in this song, I had the keyboards follow the guitar riffs. I have it played by a distorted electric piano, but any sort of keyboard would work.

Rhythm/Lead Guitar
The guitar tuning is drop C#. It sounds like there are multiple guitar tracks in this song, but they all play the same thing. The exception is bar 30, where it sounds like 1 is barring 7 on the 4th 16th note instead of 8, but I’m thinking that was a mistake. If you want to be very authentic, and have more than 1 guitar player, one of them can do that.

Strum Guitar/Ukulele
There isn’t a strum guitar nor ukulele in this song (though it would be interesting to see/hear a ukulele rendition). It’s also difficult to pick out exactly what the chord changes are, as it’s more of a riff-based song. But I put some chords into it based on what made the most sense to me, and wrote parts for these instruments.

Bass
The bass follows the riffs as well, and is played with the fingers. The louder parts are played with lots of force.
