Play That Funky Music – Wild Cherry – Song Breakdown
Keyboard
There isn’t a keyboard part in this recording, so I made up a part for Clavinet, which should be pretty funky.

Lead Guitar
This is the main riff guitar part, doing lots of hammer-ons and low funky playing. It also handles the solo, where it becomes a distorted guitar with waa-waa pedal, and lots of bends and hammer-ons.

Rhythm Guitar
This is the clean funky guitar part (on the left side), which basically plays lots of 9 chords in 16th note patterns, with lots of mutes thrown in. Much of the part is the same chord shape just moving up and down the fretboard.

Strum Guitar
There isn’t exactly a strum guitar part in this, so a part was made up for mostly open chords. It consists of a lot of 16th note patterns that vary a bit.

Bass Guitar
A nice bass part that offsets the lead guitar hook. Lots of hammer-ons, and played with the fingers.
